Kvarøy has always been family-owned. We think that’s an important part of our success, because it brings perspective and depth to what we do. It allows us to follow our hearts and prioritise long lasting value chains over short term profits
The edge of the Arctic Circle, where the warm Gulf Stream meets the cold currents of the Arctic, provides the perfect conditions for salmon. It’s almost as if temperature, light conditions and water currents have conspired together to create the optimum breeding ground.
We think a fish should be as natural as possible. So we don’t use chemical additives to boost growth or colour. We don’t use GMOs, because we’re not sure they’re good for us. And we use vegetable ingredients in our feed to minimize our footprint in the marine eco-system. The result is a healthy and sound salmon that simply tastes delicious.
Our philosophy is simple: we’re proud of what we do, both as salm-on farmers and as part of our local community, and we aim to keep it that way. So our philosophy is also our strategy: think long term, don’t take shortcuts, and go to bed proud.
